Why Rewild?

2021 marks a critical year for nature recovery. With the backdrop of rising global temperatures, biodiversity decline and the climate crisis, there has never been a greater awareness of our need for a balanced ecosystem and the enormous benefits it provides – from keeping our air clean and soil fertile to storing carbon from the atmosphere and climate change mitigation.

We need to do more than simply protect the wilderness we have left. We must restore nature by rewilding large areas of land and sea across the world From ancient woodland to coastal mangroves, from peatlands to coral reefs. Nature needs our support, and the time for rewilding is now.

Earth

Rewilding frees nature to adapt to the catastrophic damage already inflicted by climate change. We must act now to reverse the devastating consequences on not just the natural world but every living thing on Earth.

Nature

Rewilding allows the ancestral residents of our land to return to their natural habitats. Allowing the return of threatened and missing species embraces the ebb and flow of nature, allowing animals, plants, birds and the elements to naturally shape our landscapes over time.

Communities

Rewilding is a vital part of building sustainable, nature friendly communities. There has perhaps never been a more important moment for the world community to embrace alternative ways of living on earth than now. We must foster the collective responsibility needed to protect the earth for future generations to not only learn from, but most of all, enjoy!
