Northumberland – Curlew

Description

Europe’s largest wading bird, the Curlew is often spotted plodding around winter estuaries or summer moors, recognisable for its long, downcurved bill, brown body and long legs. Unfortunately recently a combination of farming practices, predators and loss of habitat have led to a huge drop in breeding pairs and chicks being born in the UK. Numbers have been in some decline since the 1970s and have almost halved in the UK over the past 20 years.

Our profits go towards protecting the wild residents of Britain’s National Parks through habitat restoration efforts and supporting the rewilding movement.
